Osimhen revives Nigeria World Cup hope

The hope of Nigeria qualifying for the 2026 World Cup was revived Friday in Kigali, Rwanda when a first half brace by Victor Osimhen ensured that the Super Eagles grabbed the three points at stake in the encounter
The Super Eagles who were on superlative form throughout the duration of the match at the Amahoro Stadium, Kigali, ensured that their host did not have any room to trouble them but it was the Galatasaray forward who did the job for the Eagles as they settled scores against the side that had beaten them 2-1 in November last year in an AFCON qualifier after playing 1-1 with Nigeria in World Cup qualifier in Uyo
In the other match of the Group, Relebohile Mofokeng and Jayden Adamas scored as South Africa got the better of Lesotho in a 2-0 win at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
With this result, Nigeria now have six points from five matches comprising of one win three draws and one defeat .
South Africa is leading Group C with 10 points, followed by Benin Republic with 8 points and Rwanda 7 points
