Osun State Deputy Governor Receives NBF Vice President, Pledges Collaboration

The Deputy Governor of Osun State Hon. Kola Adewusi has pledged to collaborate with the Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF) to develop Olympic style boxing in the state.

Hon. Adewusi stated this when he played host to the Vice President of the NBF Hon. Omonlei Imadu at his office at the state Government Secretariat, Osogbo on Monday.

The number two citizen of Osun commended Imadu for his vision for Olympic style boxing in the country as he praised his emergence as the new Southwest representative on the board of the Nigeria Boxing Federation.

Hon. Kola who is a strong advocate for youth empowerment and social development said his office will work closely with the state Sports Commission to achieve an effective collaboration with the Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF) in the coming weeks.

” I believe strongly in Hon. Omonlei Imadu’s commitment to revamp boxing in the southwest and beyond, we all saw what he was able to achieve with the Yucateco boxing league with little or no support, now that he’s working as the Vice President of the Boxing Federation we can trust him to do even more”.

“We are going to work closely with him and the NBF to improve the state of boxing in Osun and its environs.” Hon. Adewusi stated.

In his remarks, Hon. Imadu appreciated the Deputy Governor for his commitment to youth development through sports and his dedication to the advancement of boxing in the state.

“As the southwest representative in the NBF, my aim is to ensure that the respective state governments endorse our programs for their constituencies, we are already at the final stages of all that needs to be done and in the coming months Olympic style boxing in the country will experience a beehive of activities across the board”. Imadu said.

“The Nigeria Boxing Federation will, in the coming weeks, unveil a series of grassroots initiatives to scout and breed younger boxers across the nation”, he concluded.
