Owa Obokun Stool: Olodogbo calls for unity in Ijesaland

..Says Owa-elect is not interested but was convinced to ascend the throne

The Olodogbo of Odogbo-Ijesa, His Royal Highness Dr. Olatunde Oginni (JP), has said the emergence of Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup as the 41st Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland marks a new chapter in the history of Ijesaland, stressing that his vast experience in governance, business, and leadership places him in a strong position to lead Ijesaland toward greater development and unity.

Oba Oginni, who revealed this while speaking with newsmen, said Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup never showed any interest or desperation in the Owa stool, as he was rather rooting for his brother to take up the throne.

“He’s never a desperate person. I could remember when he was made the Deputy Governor to HIS Excellency Isiaka Adeleke; then I was a young Soldier and he never lobbied for it. The same thing now: it was some traditional rulers and some eminent personalities that were close to him that had to convince him to accept the clarion call.” He noted.

It’s noteworthy that the Ofokutu Royal Family of the Bilaro Ruling House has contested his selection, alleging procedural irregularities. However, Dr. Olatunde Oginni has called for peace, urging the families to accept fate and embrace the monarch as a will of God and promote unity regardless of past differences.

“As true sons and daughters of Ijesaland, now is the time to come together in peace, love, and unity to support our new monarch.

“A strong and progressive Ijesaland depends on our collective effort, cooperation, and unwavering loyalty to the throne. Oba Haastrup’s success is Ijesaland’s success.”

“Let’s stand together for the progress of our land by supporting his vision. Let us contribute to initiatives that will drive Ijesaland forward, as I pray for his reign to be peaceful and his leadership to bring prosperity, growth, and harmony,” said Dr. Olatunde Oginni JP.
