The Chairman of Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN), Oyo State Branch, Elder Oyekunle Omidokun has called for a renewed and collective actions while welcoming stakeholders in the poultry sector in the state to a new year via his seasonal message.
He said transformation of the poultry sector cannot be achieved in isolation, adding in his goodwill message that It requires deliberate collaboration among farmers, government, financiers, processors, researchers, and market actors.
“In 2026, we must move beyond survival and focus on structure, scale, and sustainability.”
Elder Omidokun however, described year 2025 as a defining period for the poultry industry, saying “It was a year that demanded resilience, discipline, and collective sacrifice.
“Rising production costs, disease risks, market volatility, and broader economic pressures tested our resolve. Yet, in the midst of these challenges, our members remained steadfast, continuing production, protecting livelihoods, and sustaining food security across Oyo State and Nigeria.”
He further commended every farmer and stakeholder who stayed committed during this demanding period. Saying their perseverance has laid a solid foundation for the opportunities ahead.
Among the strategic direction he outlined for the year 2026 are; Deepening cooperative-based investment and aggregation models to strengthen farm-level resilience and unlock shared infrastructure, finance, and market access.
He also advised on stabilizing critical markets within the value chain, particularly around feed inputs and day-old chick supply, through dialogue and stakeholder alignment, adding that strengthening partnerships with government and development institutions, with sustained engagement under programmes and project will help the sector.
“Advancing strategic infrastructure projects, notably the completion of the Association’s International Conference Center. And promoting biosecurity, compliance, and best production practices,” He noted.
Omidokun therefore called on all stakeholders to engage more actively with the Association, and support cooperative initiatives, participate in policy and market dialogues, and contribute constructively to solutions that will strengthen the poultry industry.
In his message of hope for 2026, he expressed optimism and confidence that with unity of purpose, disciplined execution, and sustained partnerships, the poultry industry in Oyo State will continue its journey toward stability, resilience, and competitiveness.
“On behalf of the Executive Committee of PAN, Oyo State Branch, I wish all our members and stakeholders a peaceful, productive, and prosperous New Year.
“May 2026 bring renewed confidence, stronger institutions, and lasting progress for our farms, businesses, and communities.”
