Anambra FA: Iloenyosi wins round one as Appeal Committee orders from election in 2 weeks

Ex international Chikelue Iloenyosi’s dream of becoming Anambra FA chairman brightened yesterday as the Anambra FA election Appeals Committee ruled that a fresh election to fill the vacant post of chairman be conducted in two weeks.

The appeal committee further stated in its ruling which was made available to newstap.com.ng by a competent source that only those who have been cleared to contest the October 30 election are eligible to run.

The ruling stated in part…”The appeal committee therefore direct the electoral committee to conduct, as soon as possible, election to fill the vacant position of the chairman within 14 days from 16th of November 2020…The appeal committee also directs that those qualified for the election are those who have been cleared by the electoral committee and appeal committee for 2020-2024 Election.”

Given the ruling of the appeal committee, Chikelue Iloenyosi would during the fresh election contest again having been cleared as the sole candidate for the chairmanship position.

It would be noted that the electoral committee had failed to declare Chikelue winner in the October 30 election because according to the committee he failed to secure simple majority.

It is not yet clear how the electoral committee would interpret the simple majority rule in the fresh election or if it would simply tell Iloenyosi to take a bow as the winner since he has no opponent.
