In Iloenyosi’s words, ”I congratulate you Hon John Enoh on your new role as Sports Minister. You have what it takes to get the job done given your track record as a Federal lawmaker. Be rest assured of my support and prayers as you assume office.”
Iloenyosi charged the minister to focus attention on the area of funding for Nigerian sports, especially football.
The ex international noted that corporate bodies are not doing enough to support sports in the country a factor that has seen the country not performing well at the international scene despite having an avalanche of sporting talents.
“Government alone can not fund sports especially football that is capital intensive. The new sports minister must ensure that corporate bodies support sports through sponsorship especially football which unifies the country,” Iloenyosi stated.
