Clubs in the nation’s second tier league, the NNL today showed class in the President Federation Cup.
Reigning NNL champions, Beyond Limits set the biggest upset of the campaign so far this season as they bundled out NPFL top club Rivers United by 2-1 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.
In Aba it was another big win for the NNL as Solution FC of Awka edged out Lobi Stars by the same 2-1 margin, even as Abakaliki FC defeated Katsina United 3-2 via penalties.
Crown Ogbomoso was however not too lucky in their pairing against Ikorodu City at Ijebu Ode as Ikorodu came from behind to win by 3-1.
In Abuja, Wikki Tourists secured a 1-0 victory over Rovers of Calabar in an all NNL setting.
It would be noted that another NNL club Warri Wolves secured their passage into the round of 16 without kicking a ball following the disqualification of 3SC of Ibadan. 3SC were thrown out of the competition for fielding in ineligible player earlier in the race.
Osun United another NNL club has also landed in the round of 16 where they would be doing battle against Plateau United.
