By Ifeanyi Eduzor
After guiding his side to a 2-0 victory over Spartans FC of Lagos to go top of their Group in the ongoing National League One, First Bank FC of Lagos handler and former Super Eagles’ midfielder, Gafar Mohammed says his target is to maintain their leadership of the Group and gain promotion for the Nigeria National League (NNL).
He told newstap.com.ng shortly after the game at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos that his victory over their arch rivals is an indication that the Elephant Boys are ready to go all out and win their remaining matches.
” It was a very difficult game because our opponents are competing with us for the top position but am happy that my boys played to instruction and we’re hoping to continue on that winning ways till the end of the season”, noted the former Eagle Cement and Bendel Insurance of Benin player.
“With the way we’re playing, I hope to get a good result against our next two opponents namely; Admiralty and TCCG to enable us consolidate on our position and get promoted to the NNL and I know it’s achievable”, he assured.
Gafaar who rated the NLO teams high was emphatic that they’ll not be complacent against any of their remaking opponents as doing so could be dangerous.
“I want to give kudos to all the teams playing in the NLO. They’ve all shown character and there are many quality players in the League and that’s why we’re not going to give unecessary respect to any team because our target is to gain promotion”, he concluded
