Prince Uwakwe donates food items, books to orphanage homes

As part of efforts to cushion the prevailing harsh economic situation Prince Basheer Mohammed Uwakwe, the chairman of Imo Muslim Council, has donated various food items, books and other educational materials to the Mother of Mercy Orphanage Home, in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

Uwakwe who is also the Traditional Prime Minister of Umueze Mbieri Autonomous Community in Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State made similar donation to Muslim Council Islamic School Shell Camp Central Mosque, Owerri.

Items presented during the separate visits, include: cartons of noodles, tubers of yam, bags of rice, exercise and textbooks etc to support the orphanage in taking care of the less privileged children.

Speaking at the occasions, Prince Uwakwe explained that it is his monthly routine to always identify with the less privileged especially the motherless babies pointing out that he carries out the gesture monthly through Islacoms Da’wah Educational Foundation in collaboration with other support groups.

He noted that giving alms to the needy is a divine injunction for both Christians and Muslims hence he endeavours to keep a date with the less privileged on a monthly basis.

Uwakwe prayed God to strengthen him and other individuals and groups to continue to support the orphanages periodically.

Responding, Matron of the Mother of Mercy Orphanage Home, Ms. May Hendrix thanked Prince Uwakwe and his foundation for the gesture and promised to put into judicious use all the donated  items.

She prayed God to continue to provide the donors to enable them reach out to the indigent in society.
