Great Summit Club boosts wheel chair tennis players

Nigeria wheel chair tennis players have continued to receive support from some organisations with the latest coming from Great Summit Club.
The club in an impressive ceremony Monday donated sport equipment which includes; rackets, balls, set of canvases and T-shirts to enhance their training.
Making the presentation at the main tennis court of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, President of the club, Johnson Olorunsola explained that as part of the club’s social responsibility function, they decided to donate the playing kits as a way of encouraging them to be in top form when representing the country at international tournaments, promising that the club will continue to render necessary support to the players.
“You’re aware that sometime last year, we donated wheelchairs to the players and we’re encouraged by what they have been doing for the country. I understand that some of them just came back from Turkey where they won bronze and our club as part of its social responsibility function and efforts to encourage them do more for the country, decided to donate these equipment which we hope will not only enhance their training but keep them in top form ahead major championship both locally and internationally”, he said.
Receiving the items, Secretary General of Nigeria Olympic Committee ( NOC), Banji Oladapo commended the club for their philanthropy and charged other well meaning Nigerians to emulate them and move special sports forward.
” We at the NOC are highly impressed with what the club has done and I appeal to other well meaning Nigerians to emulate them and invest in special athletes who have been winning medals for the country.
In his remarks, Deputy Secretary General of Nigeria Paralympics Committee, Dr. Sunday Odior thanked the club for what they’ve done for the athletes just as he appealed to them to consider sponsoring wheelchair tennis League which will go a long way in developing the sports.
The event was rounded up with an exhibition match while cash prizes was given to the players.
