Owerri zonal leaders who met early this week in Owerri have thrown their weight behind the government of Hope Uzodimma, even as they commended him for the giant strides his administration has made after one year in office.
Prince (Dr) Alex Mbata who spoke after the meeting said leaders of Owerri zone were impressed with performance of Uzodimma and resolved to support his government and also endorsed the decision of Imo Stakeholders who met a fortnight ago.
In Mbata’s words…”Those of us from Owerri zone met and endorsed the decisions reached by Imo stakeholders two weeks ago. We affirmed the decisions and we are in full support of the White Paper. We are supporting His Excellency the Deputy Governor of Imo state Prof Placid Njoku and his boss Senator Hope Uzodimma. What we have done now is what is expected from the leaders of Owerri Zone.”
The Owerri zonal leaders said the Uzodimma administration has done well in the area of infrastructural development, restoring the confidence of people in government and plugging all loopholes of corruption in government.
It would be noted that the judicial panel of inquiry set up by the Imo state government in its white report indicted former governor Rochas Okorocha, especially in the area of illegal acquisition of land and other related matters.
The Uzodimma government has since vowed to implement the recommendations of the panel, a step which a vast majority of Imo people are in support of.
