NASMED inaugurates new Executive Committee

The newly elected Executive Board Committee of the Nigeria Association of Sports Medicine (NASMED) has been inaugurated in Lagos.
Held at the boardroom of the Nigeria Olympic Committee(NOC), National Stadium, Surulere Lagos on Friday 21 June, 2024, the inaugurated Exco board members who are the twelve that were elected during the online election that took place on 13 June, 2024 to run the affairs of the group for the next four years, include,
Dr. Olajide Joseph Adebola, FAPH (President), Dr. Adebukola Oluwarotimi Bojuwoye (1st Vice President), Dr. Ummukulthoum Bakare ( 2nd Vice President), Dr. Ibrahim Tijjani (3rd Vice President) and Dr. Francis Obinnaya Udugwu who emerged as the Secretary General of the NASMED.while Dr. Mariam Mkpo Odu will serve as the Assistant Secretary.
Others are, Dr. PT Judith Amaka Enebe ( Treasurer), Dr. Kenechukwu John Aneze (Financial Secretary), Dr. Babatunde John Akinbinu (Publicity Secretary), Dr. Sunday Onimisi (Ex- Officio 1) and Dr. Mazeed Alaba (Ex-Officio 2) while the immediate past President, Prof. Olatunde Makanju, completes the Exco board list as the Ex-Officio 3.
President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Engr. Habu GUMEL who was represented by the Secretary General, Hon Babatunde Popoola, informed that NASMED is an important body that ensures good health and safety of Nigerian Athletes which the NOC does not toil with.
He advised the newly inaugurated officers to set the ball rolling by getting down to business immediately, bearing in mind that the 2024 Paris Olympic Games is almost here.
The Honourable Minister of Sports, Senator John Owan Enoh ably represented by the Director incharge of the Lagos Laison office of the Ministry, Mrs. Nkana Mbora, commended the NOC for partnering with NASMED and gave Kudos to them for the good job they have been doing by ensuring that athletes are healthy and safe.
Her views were equally collaborated by Prof. Moronkola, the Director General of the National Institute For Sports. (NIS), who was represented by the Registrar of the Institute.
Using herself as a case study while going memory lane,, Mrs. Mbora recalled how her sporting carrier would have been cut short when she sustained injury during her youth days an athlete if not the help she got from the likes of Dr. Akin Amao of Sports Medicine who curred her.
Meanwhile, the well attended inauguration which was connected online for the sake of other members across the country, Africa and beyond
also had the presence of some NASMED Patrons including Dr. Lanre Glover and Dr. Akin Amao plus Prince Wale Oladunjoye, President of the Nigeria Triathlon Federation among others.
