FASU Games: Kenyatta University football team prove too strong for University of Ghana

Football defending champion of the ongoing 11th edition of All Africa University Games ( FASU), Kenyatta University after playing out a 1-1 draw against co- host Lagos State University in their first match at the tournament came out strongly on Match Day 2 when they defeated University of Ghana by 2-0.
The match played at the Sports Centre of Lagos State University saw both teams displaying good football artistry to the delight of fans. But not minding some incursions made in each others goal area, non of them could get the curtain raiser in the first half.
The second stanza of the game saw the East Africans becoming more purposeful which led to their getting the curtain raiser through Price Musebe deep into the second half.
This goal brought the Ghanaians out of their shelf but the agile goalkeeper of Kenyatta University, Felix Ochen made sure the West Africans did not cancel the goal.
To compound the woes of the Ghanaians, a penalty awarded to them through Video Assistant review of an infraction in the Kenyans goal area was saved by Ochen and about two minutes later, the defending champions got another goal through Joshua Gichana to put the game beyond University of Ghana.
Speaking on the match, Coach of Kenyatta University, Joseph Rama told our correspondent that the strategy he adopted after their first match helped his players overcome the ambitious Ghanaians
” You know that when you’re in a competition as defending champion, you’ll be under a lot of pressure because every team will like to beat you. So, when we played out a 1-1 draw with LASU in our first game, I told my players not to panic or be under uneccesary pressure and that worked out for us.
Coach Rama who said his target is to do well in the competition however stated that he will take every game as they come even as he commended the host for the excellent sport facilities in place at the University.
