Royal Sky Media Academy products narrate how school honed their broadcasting skills
Broadcasting school plays a crucial role in shaping journalism career, providing students with technical skills, industry exposure, and confidence needed to thrive in media work.
Graduating students of Royal Sky Media Academy during the convocation ceremony of the school recently held in Ibadan share how their experiences in school helped them transit into the professional world.
A member of the first batch of the school, Oluwatoyin Funmilayo, highlighted the hands-on experience they gained in Royal Sky Media Academy.
From learning how to operate cameras, edit videos, and produce radio programs to mastering live reporting and interviewing techniques, stressing that these skills have prepared her well for what she faced where she’s presently working.
“Before joining Royal Sky Media Academy, I was passionate about journalism but had no practical knowledge. Now, I can edit news packages, handle live broadcasts, and conduct professional interviews with confidence,” says Oluwatoyin Funmilayo.
Another student, Adediran Sunday, in his remarks, said Royal Sky often collaborates with media houses, providing students with internship opportunities that allow them to work alongside professionals.
“This exposure helped us understand newsroom dynamics and also allowed us to build industry connections. My internship at a leading news station was a game-changer.
“I applied what I learned in class and even got a job offer before graduation,” he noted.
Jesutomi Adeniji, who spoke on how the school helped her confidence and public speaking, said Royal Sky Media Academy improved her communication skills and boosts her confidence in front of the camera or microphone.
“At first, I was nervous about speaking on air, but constant practice and feedback from my lecturers helped me refine my voice and presentation skills,” said Adeniji, who now anchors news segments at a newly established radio station where she works.
The proprietor of the institution, Asiwaju Enitan Olusegun Bamidele, who is popularly known as EOB, said the networking opportunities provided by the schools help students connect with industry professionals, alumni, and media recruiters, which often leads to job placements.
