Sierra Leone’s Sports Minister Wins Praise for Pioneering Role in Africa Youth Cup Talks
The Honourable Minister of Sports of Sierra Leone, Madam Augusta TEIMA has continued to draw admiration for her proactive leadership after participating in an online engagement with the organisers of the Africa Youth Cup, a flagship youth football academies tournament that has grown into one of the continent’s most promising development platforms.
The high-level meeting, held virtually, explored the possibility of Sierra Leone serving as host nation for the third edition of the Africa Youth Cup in 2026. The Minister’s involvement was widely hailed as a strong endorsement of the country’s ambition to uplift its young people and strengthen its image on the continental stage.
In her remarks, the Honourable Minister declared:
“Sierra Leone is prepared to welcome the Africa Youth Cup because we believe in the talent of our youth and the role of sports in shaping their future.”
The Honourable Minister also promised to meet with the ministers of Tourism, Youth and the Football Federation President and other relevant authorities.
The organisers of the Africa Youth Cup, equally enthusiastic, commended the Minister’s vision and commitment:

Africa Youth Cup organisers described the move as a “giant leap forward” in positioning Sierra Leone as a hub for youth football in Africa.
