Singapore 2025: Open Water Swimming Events to Proceed as Water Quality Shows Significant Improvement
World Aquatics and the Singapore 2025 Organising Committee confirm that analysis of the water quality samples collected during the afternoon of 15 July 2025 have met the standards outlined in the World Aquatics competition regulations. Based on these findings, the men’s and women’s 10km open water swimming events at the World Aquatics Championships – Singapore 2025 will begin today with the Men’s 10km race scheduled to start at 1300SGT, followed by the Women’s 10km at 1600 SGT.
The water quality results from the three samples taken along the competition course at 17:00 SGT on 15 July 2025 show a significant improvement, with levels of E. coli falling between the ranges of “good” to “excellent” according to World Aquatics regulations.
Regular water quality monitoring and testing continues throughout the competition period to ensure athlete safety, with the health and safety of all participants continuing to guide all competition-related decisions.
Tickets issued for the Women’s 10km event remain valid for the rescheduled session. Ticketholders who wish to request a refund must do so by 20 July. Requests for refunds should be sent to Sistic at [email protected].
