Six bouts to herald maiden Emeka Agba Boxing Promotions

..As Chief Agba promises exciting time for fighters

A total of six bouts will be on the card of the maiden Chief Emeka Agba Boxing promotions slated for Sunday, November, 12, 2023 at the Brai Ayenote Boxing Hall, National Stadium, Surulere Lagos.
The fights tagged ‘ Ring Metadors’ and sanctioned by the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control ( NBB of C ) according to the promoter in a press conference to announce his arrival in boxing promotions, is aimed at charting a new course for professional boxing in the country noting that his promotion outfit which is a subsidiary of Emeka Agba Foundation is out to change the narratives of the game as well as boost the image of the country.
” Boxing has always been an interesting sports and is the third oldest sports in the world which started around 600-900 BC.
” As a young man, I grew up loving boxing and believe that it’s one sure way of taking the youths out of the street and crime and my coming on board will usher a new dawn in professional boxing in the country.
” So, what we want to do is to make boxers have a decent living and discover young and talented ones who would be on our card that can be exposed to the best facilities in the world and help them fight in Europe and America and make good money”,he explained.
Chief Emeka Agba ( Odagbulu ife Dagbulu Enyi of Igboland) also stated that he has plans of building a world class boxing gym where boxers can train with the best facilities that can be found anywhere in the world to enhance their performance and keep them in good shape just as he commended the leadership of NBB of C for their efforts in taking Nigerian professional boxing to a higher pedestal.
He also announced that the gate fees for the fight will be N100,000 for the VVIP while that of the VIP is N50,000; saying that the high gate fee is to ensure that hardworking boxers get reasonable purse at the end of the fight.
Chief Agba used the occasion to call on corporate organisations to support what his promotion outfit is doing to move boxing forward and give hope to talented youths who through boxing can be meaningfully engaged and shun crime.
Speaking at the press conference, President of NBB of C, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo described the coming of Emeka Agba Boxing Promotions as a welcome development which will help in accelerating the successes recorded so far by the board.
” I’m happy that Chief Emeka Agba Boxing Promotions is going the league of promoters desperate to move the sports forward and we at the NBB of C will continue to create an enabling environment for our boxers to excel.
“Right now we have about 25 promoters with 67 bouts sanctioned by this board. We have also been taking boxing to the streets and when we organised one at Mushin and FESTAC recently, thousands of fans trooped out to watch the fight and we’ll continue to move the game forward”, he assured.
Giving a break down of the fights, Secretary General of NBB of C, Remi Aboderin announced that Henry Abolokeji will be meeting Segun Atikun in a National Super Welterweight Challenge Contest with Muyideen ljalo fighting Hammed Adedokun in a National Lightweight challenge while Lucky Oyibo will face Ibrahim Shobusi in a National Light Welterweight Challenge.
In the other fights of the day, there will be a National Lightweight Challenge Contest between Yusuf Ekpeyemi and Sunday Igiebor with Dimeji Salami meeting a yet to be announced opponent in a National Middle weight Challenge Contest with the main bout of the day being a National Cruiserweight Challenge Contest between Samuel Ebohen and fighting Soldier man, Godwin Ambrose.
