042 Football Legends Association names Tony Chukwu as patron

042 Football Legends Association has named former board chairman of Heartland FC of Owerri, Chief Tony Chukwu (Onweghi ihekaririchukwu) as patron of the body.
Promoter of the association, ex international, Chikelue Iloenyosi in a release made available to newstap.com.ng stated that Chukwu was made patron based on his antecedents and passion for the round leather game as well as his philanthropic disposition.
“Chief Tony Chukwu is a man whose love for football is super. He not only loves but supports the game. He is a well known philanthropist that has touched many lives. It is based on this that we are making him our patron. He is a man that shares 042 vision,” Iloenyosi stated.
It would be noted that Tony Chukwu was Heartland FC board chairman in 2008/2009. During his time in the club, the Naze millionaires as the club is fondly called, came second in the nation’s domestic league and also got to the final of the CAF Champions League losing narrowly to Congolese giants TP Mazembe.
Iloenyosi stressed that 042 Legends Association would continue to partner football loving Nigerians and stakeholders who share in the association’s vision of bringing succor to ex internationals who served Nigeria in their heydays.
Meanwhile, President of the nation’s players football union, Tijani Babangida has given a pat on the back to 042 declaring that the association has been doing a good job since its formation.
“I m impressed with what Chikelue Iloenyosi and his team are doing,” Babangida stated.
