Spires 5-Aside Matchday 4: White Tigers Roar Over Emaljus FC, Greater Tomorrow Trounce Young Strikers

It’s was yet another matchday of grit, technicalities, and panache at the ongoing Spires 5-Aside Naija Street Soccer Tournament in Lagos.
As expected, the teams gave the fans plenty to savor with exciting performance in their various colors.
As they are known for their goal scoring abilities, last season’s finalist All Saints FC of Badagry race to a 6-1 victory against Peckins football club, who couldn’t consolidate on their Matchday 1 victory against Olaodus FC. Elijah scored a brace while Ismail and Moses got a goal each as Greater Tomorrow of Ikorodu defeated Young Strikers Football Club by four (4) goals to one (1). Agbaje scored the consolatory goal for the Lagos Island based club.
In the other fixtures, Emaljus FC almost nicked a point in what the fans have chronicled as the match of the day but last Season’s Champions White Tigers FC stood tall to pick all three points with a 4-3 triumph.
New Generation FC, on the other hand, didn’t lose sweat to gain the maximum points as they were awarded three points and three goals against their opponent Olaodus football club who failed to show up for the game.
The action continues with another round of group stage matches on Thursday at the Stables Sports Center in Surulere.
Sixteen teams across the five divisions in Lagos are competing for honors at this year’s championship.
The tournament, which got on the way on Sunday, October 26th, will come to a close with a grand finale on Saturday 15th November at the same venue.
