Supporters Club IMC set up two committees, pass vote of confidence on Gusau, Dikko

As part of it’s efforts at reconciling all the factions of the Supporters Club, the interim management committee set up by the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) has inaugurated a reconcilation and constitution drafting committees aimed at promoting unity and oneness among the various factions.

This was part of the resolution reached at it’s stakeholders meeting held Saturday, May, 31, 2025 at the Sports Bar of Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

Inaugurating the committees, Chairman of the Interim Management Committee, Prince Vincent Okumagba noted that the members were carefully selected from the six factions and that while the reconciliation committee is saddled with the responsibility of promoting unity, oneness and reconciling all the stakeholders, the constitution drafting committee will come up with a new constitution that will be acceptable to all even as he announced that both committees have been given timeline for the delivery of their mandates.

In a communique issued after the well attended meeting, signed by Mr. Peter Abraham, Vice Chairman of the IMC and the Secretary, Hon. Sunny Gullong, they passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of NFF under Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau and the National Sports Commission Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko for their visionary and pragmatic approach to the development of football as well as commended them for their efforts to get Nigeria qualify for the World Cup.

The communique also informed all government agencies and corporate organisations that their is no break among the ranks of the Supporters Club, urging them to continue supporting their efforts especially now that the country is preparing for upcoming tournaments such as the World Cup qualifiers, WAFCON and AFCON in Morocco.

The Communique further noted that the interim management committee will continue to oversee the affairs of the Supporters Club during the transition period just as it encouraged all the stakeholders to participate in the upcoming committee meetings and contribute to the drafting of the constitution noting that it will work towards laying the groundwork for proper and credible election that will usher in new leadership fot the group.

The IMC called on all supporters to stand united, adorned in one uniform and apparel, representing one united supporters group at all time, charging members to rekindle the unity that once made the supporters group great and make a tangible difference in the success of the national teams

Earlier in his speech, chairman of the IMC, Prince Vincent Okumagba, explained that the meeting was convened to enable members set aside their grievances and differences and to usher genuine reconciliation, integration and unity noting that it’s essential that as passionate lovers of sports and loyal supporters, there’s need to collaborate and work as one United family to provide unwavering support to all national sports teams, especially the Super Eagles.

” We must take a moment to commend the Nigeria Football Federation led by Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau and the leadership of NSC for their visionary initiative in establishing the interim management committee.

“Through this committee, a vital process of restoring sanity, discipline and solidarity within our supporters group has begun. Our mission is to build unity and solidarity through sincere reconcilation”, he stressed

Okumagba while acknowledging that the task before the IMC in uniting the various factions of the supporters club is enormous explained that the journey began with the support of the NFF and the various factions who signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) noting that the responsibility goes beyond the members of the IMC with an appeal to all stakeholders for their support, promising that he will midwife a credible election at the end of their tenure.

Highlight of the stakeholders meeting was goodwill messages from some stakeholders including Ambassador Mrs. Kemi Ogunfuwa, President Football Fan Club of Nigeria, Elder Oluwole Adebanjo, Abayomi Wesu, Olumiluwa Cole amongst others
