NNL: Abakaliki Stadium turf wears new look as Idike thumbs up Gov Nwifuru

The playing turf of Abakiliki Stadium is now wearing a new look for the second stanza of the Nigeria National League ( NNL).
City landlords Abakiliki FC will this weekend host Group B leaders Kun Khalifa before hitting Enugu for their President Federation Cup showdown against Enyimba FC of Aba mid week and the state government has ensured that the stadium is in good condition.
Speaking on the state of the stadium, the Ebonyi State Commissioner For Sports, Richard Idike said kudos must go to the state governor, for approving funds for the regressing of the playing pitch, promising that it would be maintained regularly as the contractor has been mandated to maintain the pitch for six months.
“I want to tell you that the Abakiliki Stadium is now ready to host the NNL match between Abakiliki FC and Kun Khalifa this weekend. The regrassing has been completed and the entire turf is wearing a new look.”
“Kudos must go to our sports loving governor, Chief Ogbonna Nwifuru for releasing funds for the job and I want to assure you that the pitch will not suffer neglect as the contractor has been mandated to maintain it for six months,” concluded the Commissioner.
