Sacking Rohr now won’t be good -Ewulu warns

By George Aluo

Head coach of Nigeria national league side, Nnewi United, Fancy Ewulu has declared that sacking Gernot Rohr now won’t be good for the Super Eagles.

Ewulu in a chat with Newstap.com.ng noted that it would be counterproductive sacking the Franco German tactician barely one month to the Nations Cup in Cameroun.

The former Rangers goalkeepers trainer said the nation’s soccer governing body, NFF must study the situation carefully before taking a decision rather than play to the gallery.

“Yes, Rohr has not done well, I m one of those who believe he has not added value to the Eagles in the last five years. I see him as a lazy coach who is not ready to work and improve Nigerian football. But in spite of all these, the question to ask is where will sacking him now leave us. It is better to use wisdom and allow him take Eagles to Cameroun. If he succeeds, we will come home and pop champagne, if he fails then there would be basis for him to be fired. We can thereafter hire a coach who would prosecute the World Cup qualifier in March.”

Ewulu said with proper planning, Nigeria can win the Nations Cup in Cameroun insisting that we have the players who can get the job done.

On Nnewi United, Ewulu said the club would soon start preparations for the new NNL season declaring that his desire is to see the club land in the elite class of the nation’s domestic league.
