Imo people won’t prefer you to Uzodimma, LP candidate, Achonu told

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State is polls apart with the candidate of the Labour Party, Sen Athan Achonu and Imo people will always prefer Sen Uzodimma to Achonu as the November 11, 2023governorship election draws closer.

Besides, the good people of Imo State have also demonstrated in different ways that their choice of candidate for the November 11governorship election remains Governor Uzodimma and there is nothing anybody can do about it, including Sen Achonu as his competitor.
Governor Uzodimma’s Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser, Oguwike Nwachuku spoke in reaction to a comment credited to Achonu on a national television, Tuesday where he said that Imo people do not want Governor Uzodimma to continue in office.
In a statement, the Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser said that Achonu ought to be reminded that there is no way Imo people will leave light and settle for darkness, insisting that Governor Uzodimma’s government has brought light to Imo State, hence the citizens who have seen the light will work hard to retain it.
Fielding questions from the presenter of Political Paradigm on Channels Television, Achonu who was reminded about the popularity of Governor Uzodimma in Imo State and the chances of the Labour Party candidate in the November 11governorship election said: “In Imo State nobody wants  him to continue. He has not even won any election in Imo State. He became governor because of the Supreme Court ruling.”
The statement reminded Achonu that Imo people want Governor Uzodimma and are preparing to overwhelmingly return him to office with their votes and in such a way that the Labour Party candidate may not venture into elective contest again throughout his lifetime.
” Contrary to Achonu’s lies, Imo people want Governor Uzodimma beyond November 11, 2023  because they are reaping the benefits of his administration in all facets. They have seen that Governor Uzodimma is not selfish, greedy and deceptive like those jostling to take over from him, including Achonu,” the statement said.
The Statement added: “The good people of Imo State have as well demonstrated that they want Governor Uzodimma by the manner they have adopted and keep adopting him for re-election across the three zones in Imo, including Sen. Achonu’s Okigwe senatorial District, a development that has jolted Sen Achonu.
” Sen. Achonu knows that he has no chances in the coming election, because he has nothing to campaign with. Even the road that leads to his village which he could have used as campaign material today but he abandoned it when he was in the National Assembly, was recently fixed by Governor Uzodimma.
” It is also laughable that Sen Achonu whose election was nullified for irregularities was content blackmailing Sen. Uzodimma who had the privilege of being elected twice as a senator representing Imo West, and also as Governor.”
The statement also knocked Sen Achonu for designating Imo State as the link to other States in South East for criminal activities, adding that “no amount of propaganda, blackmail or half truths by Sen Achonu and his ilk, using insecurity will convince Imo people to trust them with the leadership of the State.”
The statement further noted that the likes of Sen Achonu who keep mum in the face of insecurity ravaging Imo State when the people needed them to provide leadership by condemning the sponsors, cannot suddenly be trusted to protect the same people they chose to abandon when they get into office.
