Lagos will be set alight this weekend as top scrabble players will meet at the base for the Pyramid Club for it’s Mega Celebration Tournament.
The club earned the prestigious national Inter-club title after surmounting challenges from other top rivals at the Nigeria Scrabble Festival held in Ogun State in April.
The victorious team were subsequently received by the Lagos State Sports Commission Director -General Lekan Fatodu.
Over 55 players including current Emmanuel Egbele Annual Tournament Lite Division winner Christopher Monday, 2019 MGI Patron’s Cup champion Hakeem Olaribigbe, and former World No. 9 star Opeyemi Oloro will compete over 10 rounds of games.
Various prizes as well as a 100,000 naira cash prize-money has been set aside for the overall winner.
Chairman of the Lagos Scrabble and Monopoly Association (LASSMA) who is also a member of the club Dipo Akanbi will lead other members to Airport Hotel in making the tournament memory one.
The Mega Celebration Tournament it’s understood was organized as a way of repositioning the club as one of the most vibrant in the country.
