Umuohiagu PG buries father, Pa Ambrose Madu, 93

The remains of Ichie Ambrose Anele Onyenobi Madu, was laid to rest Friday in his compound, Umuorisha Umuohiagu in Ngor Okpala LGA of Imo State.
Late Ichie Madu, aged 93yrs who died after a brief illness, is the father of the President-General of Umuohiagu Autonomous Community, Chief Sunny Madu.
Burial activities for the deceased featured a novelty football match between old players under the aegis of All Stars Association of Umuohiagu and the younger generation team, night of songs and other customary funeral rites befitting a departed nonagenarian statesman.
Also a requiem mass was held for the deceased at St Peter Catholic Parish, Onyeaghalanwanneya before interment while reception followed at the playground of Umuorisha Primary School.
The burial ceremony attracted dignitaries from all walks of life notable among whom were members of the Ngor Okpala and Imo State political class, Eze-elect of Umuohiagu, Chief Donatus Nzeribe Nwachukwu, Leader Umuohiagu Council of Chiefs, Chief Uju Madu, Chairman of Nigeria National League, NNL, Mr George Aluo, ace sports writer who is an illustrious son of Umuohiagu.
Others include, Okenze Sylvester Obinna, Hon. Mrs Chika Ibekwe, LG chairmanship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the forthcoming council elections, among others too numerous to mention.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Sunny Madu, the chief mourner and eldest son of the deceased, described his father as a rare gem, a distinguished icon and gentleman whose life of humility and generosity positively impacted many lives in the community.
He prayed for the repose of his departed father’s soul while thanking his siblings, relatives, in-laws, friends, well-wishers and associates for their support through the trying times.
