FIFA position: Egbe, Okumagba salute Amaju

The duo Ebi Egbe and Vincent Okumagba have congratulated NFF boss Amaju Melvin Pinnick for emerging a member of the FIFA Council in the CAF elections conducted today.
Egbe who is the CEO of Monimichelle told newstap.com.ng that Amaju’s membership of the FIFA Council would rob off positively on Nigerian football, while Okumagba on his part said he is happy the era when the country had a voice in world football is back.
“Anybody who is conversant with how things play out in International football politics would know that Nigeria has a lot to gain from Amaju being there. This is a good development for our football. I say congratulations to Amaju who is not only intelligent but an astute football buff,” Egbe said.
Okumagba on his part stated…”With Amaju now in FIFA we would have a voice in world football. I want to say congratulations to him and also commend the federal government who through the sports minister, Sunday Dare threw the country’s weight behind him.”
Meanwhile, South Africa’s business mogul Dr Motsepe was elected the new CAF president.
Motsepe who becomes the seventh (7th) person to occupy the position of CAF President, begins his four-year term after being elected unopposed by the Member Associations of CAF, in Rabat.
Going to the General Assembly, Africa adopted a unity stance which saw other three candidates, namely Augustin Senghor, Ahmed Yahya and Jacques Anouma withdraw from the race to be President.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who was in attendance in Rabat in his remarks in the General Assembly commended the African Member Associates for the unity they have displayed in the last few weeks.
Dr. Motsepe, 59, is an accomplished South African businessman and philanthropist and no stranger to football. For almost two decades, he has been the President of a South African club, Mamelodi Sundowns.
