Violation of NNL Rules : League Body Deducts three points from Kebbi United, Sanctions First Bank Over Referee’s Harassment
The Nigeria National League (NNL) has penalized Kebbi United and First Bank Football Clubs for breaching various sections of its rules and regulations guiding the 2025-2026 Season in their last matches.
The NNL Disciplinary Committee, after thorough investigations, found the two clubs guilty of violation of relevant articles of its laws and punished them accordingly.
Kebbi United is to forfeit 3 Points and 3 goals for using an ineligible player, David Ibrahim, in their last game against Yobe Desert Stars of Damaturu. They are also to pay a fine of N1million.
The NNL also condemned the unprofessional conduct of the match Commissioner Buhari Yahaya in the fixture against Yobe Desert Star.
NNL Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Danlami Alanana, said, “We frown at situations where the match official didn’t report incident of featuring an unlicensed player, which is a violation of the eligibility clause.”
First Bank FC was fined N1million for fans’ misconduct, including invading the dressing room and intimidating match officials. First Bank has been mandated to produce the four men, failure of which may lead to further sanctions.
The NNL warned First Bank FC and the Lagos State Football Association to ensure adequate security in all their matches.
Both Kebbi United and First Bank have the right to accept the sanctions by the NNL or appeal to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
