WAFCON FINAL: Onazi Warns Super Falcons Against Complacency

Former Super Eagles player, Ogenyi Onazi has charged the Super Falcons to avoid complacency when they file out against the Atlas Lioness of Morocco in the finals of the ongoing Women African Cup of Nation.

Super Falcons, nine time winners of the competition will be going for their tenth title Saturday against host nation, Morocco and Onazi told newstap.com.ng that there’s need for the team to maintain their mentality and composure to enable them come out victorious against their opponent.

” I’m highly excited with the performance of the Super Falcons in the tournament especially their total annihilation of the Copper girls of Zambia and their victory over the defending champions, South Africa thereby ending Bayana Bayana 15- match unbeaten run in WAFCON which is an indication that victory is knocking on the door of Nigeria”, began the defensive midfielder who once featured for Denizlispor and Trabzonspor, in the Turkish top flight

“But going into the finals, they should realize that they’ll be playing against a hostile crowd and as such they must avoid complacency to enable them achieve their target of a tenth title.

” They should also realize that the Moroccans have improved greatly and will come out with everything in their arsenal to ensure they lift the trophy for the first time on home soil and as such the Nigerian girls must go the extra mile for victory to be theirs”, he cautioned.

Onazi was however optimistic that the Super Falcons are capable of bringing the trophy home, urging them to be at their best in tomorrow’s encounter.
