WAFU Tourney: Gov Diri to storm Côte d’Ivoire if Bayelsa Queens qualify for finals -Igali

Bayelsa State Commissioner For Sports, Daniel Igali says that the state Governor Douye Diri has promised to be in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire to cheer Bayelsa Queens if they qualify for the finals of the ongoing WAFU B CAF Champions League (women) qualifiers.
He stated this when he addressed the players before their group stage match against Asko of Togo.

The news at the dressing room was greeted with a thunderous applause from the players as the Prosperity girls said they look forward to seeing Diri and handing over the WAFU trophy to him.
Igali’s speech literally fired up the girls as they won the match by 3-0.

The encounter was one in which the Prosperity girls dominated from start to finish with goals from Alaba Olabiyi and Moshood. Bayelsa’s first goal was an own goal conceded by the Togolese.
Prior to the match, they had three points in their kitty from their first victory over Police Ladies of Ghana. They will now face Sam Nelly FC of Benin in the last match of the group stage.
“Our sports loving Governor has been monitoring your progress in this tournament and he’s highly excited with your performance so far. He has promised that once you book the final ticket, he will personally be in Côte d’Ivoire to cheer you to victory and I hope you won’t disappoint,” said Igali.
Igali charged the girls to go all out for victory against their opponents on Saturday and at the end win the trophy and a ticket for the Champions League proper in Morocco, saying that the state and country is proud of them.
Meanwhile, the club chairman Robin Apreala had on his part showered the girls with dollars after their first victory over Police Ladies of Ghana, assuring them of more financial reward if they lift the trophy.
