Weightlifting: Iquaibom storms Qatar for IWF Grand Prix

The profile of Nigeria’s weightlifting legend, Lawrence Iquaibom has continued to rise in the sport.
Iquaibom, a Commonwealth silver medalist and former director of sports in Akwa Ibom is right now in Doha, Qatar where he is serving as one of the International Technical Officials for the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Grand Prix 11.
The event which is an Olympic qualifier runs from December 4-14 in Doha.
IWF in a statement made available to the media noted that only ITO’s with valid license from 2021 to 2024 would be officiating in Doha.
Iquaibom before jetting out to Doha told Newstap.com.ng that he is going to give the international assignment his best shot as usual, even as he added that he cherishes the global recognition.
It would be noted that Iquaibom an Olympian featured for Nigeria at the Seoul Olympics in 1988 as well as Los Angeles Olympics in 1984.
