Qatar 2022: Kane flogs England out of World Cup with penalty miss as football fails to come home

Perennial under achievers, England failed again at the big stage as they were beaten by World champions France by 2–1.

The man that failed to deliver when it mattered most was Harry Kane who threw away a penalty with only five minutes to go.

Kane had earlier converted the first England penalty of the night but failed to beat his Tottenham team mate Hugo Lloris the second time.

Oliver Giroud stole the show with his 78th minute strike.

France led the first half courtesy of the long range shot of Real Madrid midfielder Tchouameni.

France will on Wednesday face Morocco in the second semi final. Croatia and Argentina will slug it out in the first semi final on Tuesday.
