World Archery Federation clears Nigeria of any wrong doing
..Insists that NAFED Exco has no case to answer
The Nigeria Archery Federation (NAFED) has kick-started their 2025 programme of activities on Wednesday 15 January 2025 with Executive Board meeting held online.
The meeting which was a fallout of the recent verdict by the world Archery Federation allowed the body to itemize their programme of activities for the year in question without hitch.
President of the Nigeria Archery Federation (NAFED) and the Deputy Secretary General of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Alhaji .Mohammed Baba Abdullahi who was recently turbaned as the Makama (Dan’ Niya) Bassa-Nge (Nupe) Kingdom who declared the meeting open announced the freedom verdict from the World Archery Federation (WAF) to the members.
The President thanked the board members for their commitment in ensuring that Archery Sport strives in Nigeria in spite of all odds.
He read out most of the year’s first quarter activities which include, the Annual General Meeting (AGM), workshop, Seminar and Championship.
In rounding up, the President commended the Nigeria Olympic Committee led by Engr. Habu Gumel for their support
It would be recalled that after the Archery Exco board election held in 2024 in Abuja, some disgruntled elements led by the former Secretary General, wrote a petition to the world body asking them to disregard the election which was supervised by the NOC and the then Sports Ministry.
The world body gave them audience and invited them, the NOC and NAFED for a meeting in order to prove their case but they never honoured the invitation.
Irked by the non appearance of the petitioners, the world Archery Federation then issued NAFED a clean bill of health and empowered Exco Committee to go ahead with their calendar of activities as they have no case to answer.
