Wrestling : Board members, coaches hail Customs Boss for welfare package for athletes

Board members of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF) and coaches have commended the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi (MFR), for his unprecedented gesture toward athletes.
The commendation came during the weigh-in held at the Games Village, Bayelsa Palm on Thursday, March 26.
NWF Vice President, Christopher Ankpila, and North-East Representative, Umar Abubakar, praised the Customs boss for providing standard accommodation and proper feeding arrangements for both athletes and coaches.
Ankpila said, “The accommodation and feeding are excellent; we have never had this before.
“This is like world-class accommodation for the athletes. Everything you need is available. They have all the necessary facilities in their rooms, and the same applies to the feeding.
“We are very elated, and we thank the President. We do not take this for granted.”
Also speaking, the board member representing the North West, Umar Abubakar said, “This is the first of its kind. As you can see, the athletes are excited. Quality food and good hostels have been provided for the participating athletes.
“We cannot thank the President, who doubles as the Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service enough. This is the best accommodation we’ve had since the inception of the wrestling classic 14 years ago.”
Former African champion, Joe Oziti expressed appreciation for the kind gesture of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service.
The coach of the Delta State Wrestling Association said, “This is the best competition we’ve attended in Bayelsa State. The accommodation is excellent, and this is also the first competition where we have free food.
“Everyone is happy. Thank you very much to our President.”
