Don’t fight Furry now, Ladipo tells Joshua

By Ifeanyi Eduzor
President of Nigeria Boxing Board of Control ( NBB of C) Dr. Rafiu Ladipo has advised former two-time heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua to forget about facing WBC champion Tyson Furry for now but rather concentrate on improving his form before going for the fight.
Joshua last Saturday at the O2 Arena picked up his first victory since 2020 when he defeated American Jermaine Franklin.
Shortly after recording a unanimous points decision victory against his opponent, he called out Tyson Furry for a fight which he says all boxing fans are looking up to but Ladipo believes it’s not yet time for the Nigerian born British fighter to go for the Gypsy King.
” We at the NBB of C are happy that Anthony Joshua won his last fight but my advise is that he should forget a fight with Tyson Furry for now and concentrate on how to win his belts back
This was a guy who lost his belts back-to back to Oleksandr Usyk and what I expect from him is to have some fights to put himself in top shape and probably win back his belts before considering a fight with Furry who is very hot now.
“I know that the fight is what every boxing fan want and both boxers will make a fortune facing each other in the ring but I want Joshua to think beyond financial gains but rather his career which is more important” concluded Ladipo who also doubles as President General of Nigeria Football Supporters Club.
