Ifeanyi Eduzor
Despite posting a good performance against the current European champions, England, the Super Falcons of Nigeria Monday failed to go beyond the round of 16 of the ongoing FIFA women world cup being co- hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
The Super Falcons who kept the Lionesses on check throughout the duration of the game however could not capitalize on the red card given to Lauren James following a foul on Alozie.
Both teams created chances but could not convert any of them to goal and where however cautious in their approach of the game which went into extra time without producing any goal.

In the resultant penalty kick, the European champions won by 4-2 to progress to the last eight thereby denying the 11 time African champions the opportunity to progress to the quarter-final stage for the second time in the history of the championship which they achieved last in 1999.
