
The Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, has lauded the sporting contribution of the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service cum President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR.
Governor Diri, who made the commendation on Friday during the grand finale of the Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament, tagged the Prosperity Cup, acknowledged the support of Adeniyi, which has encouraged grassroots sports development.
Diri maintained that the Customs boss has continued to identify as a Bayelsan by contributing to the activities of the State
“I want to extend our gratitude to the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service who took over from our son Champion Daniel Igali Oly as the President Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Adewale Adeniyi for his support and sponsorship to the Prosperity Cup.”
“This is what we want to see in our sports, Government can’t do everything, why we are encouraging individuals and private organisations to join hands. The Comptroller-General is more like a Bayelsan because he has identified himself with everything we do in the state.”
“During our National Wrestling Classics, he always plays a major role, and we are not surprised with his support on the Prosperity Cup.” Gov. Diri said.
Meanwhile, Governor Diri announced that the Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service splashed out 5 million naira to the winners in addition to his earlier support to the organisers.
