2027: Sociopolitical group sends SOS to Governor Uzodimma
..Demands equity in conduct of Mbaitoli APC State Constituency primary

From Ndudi Olumba, Owerri
Worried over the perceived possibilities of truncating equity, fairness and justice in the conduct of the forthcoming APC Mbaitoli State Constituency primary scheduled to hold on Thursday 21st May, 2027, a revered sociopolitical organization, Concerned Mbaitoli Political Stakeholders has publicly and officially send Save Our Soul, (SOS) message to Senator Hope Uzodimma, the Executive Governor of Imo State.
The sociopolitical organization in a well articulated letter addressed to the Governor and other APC critical stakeholders in Mbaitoli LGA and the State at large dated 15th May, 2026 and titled: IMO APC HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY PRIMARY: MBAITOLI STATE CONSTITUENCY CRIES OUT FOR EQUITY, FAIRNESS $ JUSTICE, as signed by Hon.Franklin Agu and Chief Ositadinma Okehi, the organisation’s Chairman and Secretary respectively.
The sociopolitical organization further informed that they are committed to the upliftment and defense of democracy in the council area through institution and adherence to equity, justice and fairness.
The group also disclosed their mission as the sustenance of peaceful political stability and discipline, by ensuring that anything that may cause political wranglings, bickering , factionalization and acrimony are jettisoned early enough, most especially within the area’s political activities, and in the overall interest of all.
According to them, “our organization is a master crusader and firm believer in Imo State Charter of Equity, which is a political hallmark instituted to advance internal democracy in the State through respect and adherence to zoning arrangements, na ihi na, mmanu akara di uto, onye raratu ibe ya araratu.
“Your Excellency, last Thursday (14/05/2026) in a well attended Imo State APC stakeholders meeting you presided upon at the Banquet Hall of Imo State Government House, you re-emphasized the need for our great political party in the State to respect zoning arrangements, cautioned against favouritism and advised on the need to give women and youths priority.
“These you said are in tandem with the nation, our party and United Nations declaration and stand.
“In view of all these, therefore, it’s then our wish to bring to your notice as our Dear Governor, moreso as the State’s most revered political apex leader, that Mbaitoli LGA has an age long political understanding that accepts zoning, and due respect to the Philosophy of mmanu akara di uto……..
Any drift may likely cause the party serious regrets” they optimistically informed.
The group further said that, it’s an empirical truth that Mbaitoli LGA is a firm believer and executioner of One Term Tenure in the State Assembly as historically stated, resolved and accepted by the political leaders of the council area, since inception of this political dispensation.
They pointed out that, as a true demonstration and implementation of the One Term Tenure acceptance for Mbaitoli State Constituency, late Hon. John Egbuchulam, 2007-2011 despite his position as a Majority Leader of Imo State House of Assembly during his tenure, served only for one tenure.
Similarly, Hon.Victor Ndunagum, 2011-2015, despite his desperation for second tenure, he was stopped by the leaders just to respect the one tenure posture.
Even Hon. Okey Onyekanma, that represented the State Constituency in Imo House of Assembly between 2015- 2019, inspite of his giant stride achievements and popularity, the constitutents and political leaders vehemently opposed his second term ambition.
The same thing for Hon. Israel Nnataraonye (Olugbu) who efficiently and effectively represented the state constitutency between 2019-2023, as one of the finest legislators Mbaitoli ever produced went for one tenure.
“Therefore, in keeping with the traditional and resolve age long political agreement, Hon. Innocent Ikpamezie, the incumbent House member representing the State Constituency since 2023- 2027 should avoid subjecting the Constitutency into political turmoil by adhering to keep to the rule of the engagement, for which is well known to him, and most especially, as a beneficiary, na ihi na mmanu akara di uto, Onye raratu ibe ya araratu. Simple”.
They however observed that the only time in the present political dispensation that the Constituency was represented back to back was during the tenure of late Pharm. Eugene Onyeji, 1999-2007, and it was the maiden inception of the present democratic dispensation.
The non governmental political pressure group noted that political consciousness and sensitivity was at barest minimal then, but however, the political instability, wranglings, bickering and factionalization witnessed by the political gesture, made the then political leaders and stakeholders of Mbaitoli State Constituency to unequivocally resolved to one tenure representations, henceforth.
“Your Excellency, these facts are verifiable, hence truth is always sacred, while comments are free.
“Therefore, it’s pertinent to envisage that, taking the people of Mbaitoli back to Egypt in 2027 will be highly resisted and definitely may not augur well for our great party during the general elections.
“To be forewarned is to be for harm. Political desperation is a spiritual sin before God and man, and let him, Hon. Innocent Ikpamezie do the needful in the overall interest of peace, harmony , unity of purpose and political stability in the Council Area and the State at large.
“Moreso, it’s equally important to remind you, that the political leaders of Mbaitoli LGA divided the Council area into 3 political blocs, for administrative conveyance and in total adherence to zoning arrangements and political adoption of mmanu akara di uto …political philosophy, thus the Council’s 12 INEC Wards were divided into Mbaitoli North, South and East.
“Under Mbaitoli North, it’s a resolved issue by APC political leaders, ceding to them in the present political arrangements the privileged and honour to produce House of Assembly candidate, while the South produces the party LGA Chairman, even as Mbaitoli East were giving the mandate to produce the LGA Apex Leader and the Executive Chairman of the Council.
The sociopolitical pressure group vehemently advised that, since Mbaitoli North is magnanimously detailed to produce the House of Assembly candidate in this political dispensation, and it’s one tenure political gesture, Hon. Innocent Ikpamezie should desist from contesting for re-election, because his inundate aspiration is totally against the rule of engagement, and if allowed, may severely cause the political party possible regrets in the forthcoming general elections.
They passionately appealed to Governor Uzodimma for an immediate intervention so as to avert possible regrets.
