Rangers International Crowned 2025/2026 NPFL Champions
Rangers International of Enugu were Sunday evening crowned champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the 2025/2026 season.
The Flying Antelopes, defeated hard fighting Ikorodu City by 2-1in game 38 of the NPFL decided at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena ( Onikan ) Stadium to garner 68 points to win the title on the last day of the league.
Both teams started the game very well, but a more purposeful Rangers drew the first blood after 30 minutes of play through Chidiebere Nwobodo.
After this goal, all efforts by the home side to equalize proved abortive, as the first half ended 1-0 in favour of the Coal City Side.
On the revsumption of the second half, Rangers also took the game to their opponents area which resulted in Chidiebere Nwobodo, scoring a brace in the 52nd minutes.
Immediately after this goal, Ikorodu fought back gallantly which led to their only goal through Moses Bada in the 58th minutes.
The game now went into a ding dong affair with both sides trying to score more goals which was not to be thereby ending the game 2-1 in favour of Rangers and wild celebration from their traveling fans.
Their closest rival, Rivers United ended the season 67 points
With this victory , Rangers has now nine league titles to move level with Enyimba International as the joint-most successful club in NPFL history.
Rangers and Rivers United will now represent Nigeria at next year’s CAF Champions League
