The Imo State zonal competitions of the ongoing Southern States maiden First Bank /Sam Okwaraji U-16 Secondary Schools Football tournament has been completed, with Isu High School, Nwangele emerging winners of Orlu Zone
They achieved this feat by defeating Green Uzo
comprehensive secondary school.
With this result, the school now joins Government Secondary School Owerri and
St Dominics Secondary School Isiala Mbano, winners of Owerri and Okigwe zones respectively in the state finals slated for Sunday, July 5.
Meanwhile Ibiono Ibom South Secondary School, Ikpedip, emerged Akwa Ibom State Champions after recording a 3-2 victory over Uyo High School in the state’s finals
The grassroots football competition is in honour of Sam Okwaraji, who died on the field of play on August, 12, 1989 in a match between Nigeria and Angola.
