Rangers mourn the death of Okoronkwo
The management of Rangers International F.C of Enugu is in a mourning mood over the call to eternal glory of its former midfield maestro and Team Manager, Stanley Okoronkwo A K.A ‘The Englishman’ whose sad exit took place on Monday, June 3, 2024.
An Ex-Rangers International Footballers Association member, Victor Oko, who confirmed the sad news on Monday, said that the midfielder died after a brief illness.
The G.M/CEO of Rangers, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku while reacting to the sudden demise of the former midfielder, Team Manager, and Ag. Chairman of the club, described his death as painful stressing that the club would do everything to ensure that the late Stanley Okoronkwo would be given a befitting burial.
“The news about the death of the club’s legend, Stanley Okoronkwo came to us as a shock as there was no information about him having any health challenge.
However, we give God all the glory for giving us such a talent to serve the club at various levels and calling him back onto His glory at this point in time,” said the young club boss.
He further said, “Rangers will participate actively in ensuring that the late footballer and administrator is given a befitting burial when the family communicates his burial plans. It is indeed a harrowing moment to talk about Stanley Okoronkwo in the past tense.”
Stanley Okoronkwo defended the colors of the ‘Flying Antelopes’ between 1974 – 1978 football season with the likes of Christian Chukwu, Emmanuel Okala, Patrick Ekeji, Arthur Egbunam, Aloysius Atuegbu, Adokie Amiesimeka, and a host of others while returning to serve as team manager and rose to become Ag—chairman after the exit of Chief Emma Nkwocha in the year 2000.
