Randy Waldrum resigns as Super Falcons Coach
Super Falcons Coach Randy Waldrum has resigned from his post.
The American tactician, 67 who was appointed on October, 5, 2020 in his letter of resignation to the NFF on Thursday gave the ill health of his wife as reason for quitting the job.
“It’s been a very difficult weeks following the Olympics, with my wife’s health issues, and the worries that obviously come with that. After much thought and consideration, I am hereby resigning my position as Head Coach of the Super Falcons.
“This will allow the NFF enough time to find the next manager to take over this incredible squad,” Waldrum said in his letter
In his four years stint with the team, Waldrum qualified the Super Falcons to the 2023 World Cup were they reached the Round of 16 but was eliminated by England in penalty shootout.
He also led the team to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games, breaking their 16 years jinx of not playing at the quadrennial event.
Coach Waldrum ‘s resignation will offer Nigeria Football Federation enough time to scout for his replacement ahead of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations WAFCON slated to hold in Morocco next year.
The tournament is slated to hold from July 5- 26, 2025.
