Sporting Lagos NPFL Promotion: SWAN Hails Godwin Enakhena’s Proven Leadership Records
The National Leadership of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has congratulated veteran journalist and sports administrator Godwin Enakhena following the promotion of Sporting Lagos FC to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The Lagos-based club secured promotion from the Nigeria National League (NNL) after a competitive campaign that confirmed their return to Nigeria’s top flight.
SWAN President Isaiah Benjamin through the Association’s Secretary-General, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo, in a congratulatory letter, described Enakhena’s achievement as a significant milestone for both the club and its leadership.
“The National Executive Committee and entire membership of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) extend our warmest congratulations to you on the remarkable achievement of guiding Sporting Lagos Football Club to promotion from the Nigeria National League (NNL) to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
“This milestone is a testament to your visionary leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the growth and development of football in Nigeria,” part of the letter reads.
Enakhena previously guided MFM FC to NPFL promotion in 2013 and repeated the feat with Sporting Lagos in 2023, before achieving the latest success.
President Benjamin said Enakhena’s astute leadership continues to stand out in Nigerian football administration, praising his long-standing role as a sports journalist and administrator with a proven track record in club management.
“The journey from the NNL to the NPFL is no small feat, and your success reflects the hard work, discipline, and resilience of the entire management, coaching crew, and players under your stewardship,” he said.
“We look forward to witnessing Sporting Lagos make a strong and positive impact in the NPFL and further raise the standard of club football in Nigeria.”
The number sports writer in Nigeria also eulogized Mr. Enakhena’s outstanding leadership prowess as the President of 36 NNL club Chairmen and wished him better times as he Leads his team back to NPFL, where he had served as Club Owners’ Secretary.
