SV Awards: Fanny Amun Lauds Sportsville For Worthy Recognition

In the history of Nigeria football, only few names stand out as major performers. One of them is Coach Fanny Amun, fondly referred to as the “Transformer of talents”
Coach Amun earned the name transformer when he won the 1993 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Japan, becoming the second Nigerian coach to do so after the late Sebastian Broderick’s feat in I985.

“That was a turning point in my coaching career, especially when many Nigerians didn’t give us any chance,” recalls the Edo-born Coach who later went to handle the Flying Eagles to the 2009 World Cup hosted by Nigeria.

Fanny Amun’s versatility saw him hold the all-important position of the Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Association, as the NFF was known then. His career has been on the upward drive and his name remains as prominent as ever.

On his award nominee by Sportsville, Coach Amun said. “I want to thank Sportsville for this worthy recognition. I have received many awards in the past, but I must say that none compares to this one coming from a credible organisation like Sportsville.

“I started watching Sportsville over 15 years ago and today, they haven’t deviated from saying it as it is. To me, that is the hallmark of a credible organisation.

“And when you look at the calibre of Tony Ubani, Adekunle Salami and not to talk of Frank Ilaboya himself, you see gentlemen with names, character and credibility, which has been the hallmark of the award.

“I can say this with confidence because I have always been a guest for the past three editions. And I see the awardees speak glowingly about how credible the Sportsville Award is.
“You can understand why this nomination is so special to me. I want to appreciate once again the organisers. I will be there to personally receive the award on the 3rd of April.
And one person who will be with the Transformer on that day is his bossom friend, Ebi Egbe, popularly known as Monimichelle.
Mr Egbe, who spoke to Sportsville Managing Director, Frank Ilaboya on phone said Fanny Amun’s recognition is fitting.

“I am so excited to hear he is one of your Awardees this year. Coach Amun has paid his dues both as a coach and as an administrator.
“This award is well deserved and I say congratulations to my friend and brother,” Egbe, a recipient in the maiden edition of award in 2020, added”.

This year’s ceremony, the 5th edition, comes up on Thursday, April 3rd at the Eko Club Hall, Surulere Lagos.
