National U-12 and 15 handball championship to hold in Umuahia, Abia State.
The Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) has announced that the National U-12/15 Handball Championship will hold this month in Umuahia, Abia State.
According to a statement from the Secretary General of HFN Mrs. Monica Otumala, the championship will be held from the 18th to the 28th of March 2025 with the arrival date and screening to hold from 18th and 19th while the matches will begin on the 20th of March.
Mrs. Otumala also emphasized on the importance of the screening which will hold on the 19th of March to determine those who are truely under 12 and 15 to play in the championship; stating that there will be sanction for the team, academies or club. for any discrepancy.
“There will be thorough screening of players on 19th March, 2025 in the morning. All participating States/Academies are therefore urged to ensure that players to be presented for the exercise are within the right age. Any erring State/ Academy will be sanctioned appropriately”
“Only players who pass the screening session would be allowed to participate in the championship.” Mrs. Otumala said.
The winners of this tournament in U-12 and U-15 categories respectively and as well as the runners up will represent Nigeria at any Youth Tournament as may be determined by the Handball Federation of Nigeria according to the Federation’s Secretary General, Mrs. Otumala.
