Ahead of 2027 general elections, there are strong indications that Okigwe senatorial zone is playing and demonstrating politics of maturity, patriotism and brotherly love inspite of political affiliation and organisational linings.
Just last weekend, precisely Saturday 18th April, most of the frontline aspirants in the various political parties jostling to represent the senatorial zone in the Senate met in Abuja under political conviviality and exchange of bantings.
The meeting was politically historical as Okigwe senatorial zone, prime interest(s) dominated the front burner, with every aspirant showing patriotism and maximum respect to each other.
The roll call are, High Chief Mike Ejiogu( PDP) aspirant, Chief Emma Okewulonu (ADC) aspirant, Chief Longers Anyanwu (APC) aspirant, and Dr.Fabian Ihekweme ( APGA) aspirant, all these senatorial aspirants are eminently qualified for the apex legislative job.
Obviously, any other aspirant outside this 4 should be considered as political featherweight when it comes to who represents the courageous people of Okigwe senatorial zone in the Red Chambers of the National Assemblies in 2027.
The unity of purpose exhumed by the four aspirants was a rekindle of political understanding by the political godfathers of the zone, yester years and highly commendable.
They genuinely demonstrated henceforth the need for effective and qualitative representations of the Senatorial Zone, based on integrity, pedigree and antecedents.
Longers Anyanwu as Ebubedike Ndigbo was the strategic arrowhead, even as he demonstrated high level of sterling leadership qualities, as he justifiably coordinated the aspirants who seemed to be saying in one accord, “never again should they allow mediocrity and insensitivity, to triumph over the senatorial affairs”.
For those of us who were in that meeting, it was nostalgic and a demonstration of brotherly love and maturity of being in one political page. Simply, understanding the needs for politics without bitterness, patriotism and sustenance of brotherhood.
Definitely, this will equally erode politics of bickering, wrangling, blackmail and heightened tension, Imo State and Nigerian politicians should honestly borrow a leaf from them, so as to institute political sanitization and discipline.
Okigwe senatorial zone through Anyanwu’s leadership prowess have shown other senatorial zones in Imo State and Nigeria at large the best way to go ahead of 2027 political dispensation, that you can play politics without an iota of bitterness and undo doggedness.
It’s equally obvious that some of them out of patriotism and the need to send in the best out of their first eleven, may seamlessly stand down their ambition at the niche of time and in the overall interest of Okigwe Senatorial Zone.
This is obviously, a demonstration of political maturity and subsequently throw their support behind the man, whom the cap fits. All in the overall interest of Okigwe and her people.
Moreso, other political aspirants in Imo State and Nigeria at large should learn a lesson of political maturity and discipline from the Okigwe senatorial zone four political musketeers as being piloted by the Ebubedike of Ndigbo. The era of overzealous ambition and political instability is gone.
They should cue in to political maturity and understanding as the Okigwe 4 have initiated and exemplified.
It’s a gospel truth that the Okigwe 4 have shown Imo State political aspirants and Nigerians that the era of political rancour and acrimony in the forthcoming political dispensation is gone.
The Okigwe Four through their body language and actions have undauntedly demonstrated that they are willing for a consensus candidate as far as the best among their first eleven is choosen.
Certainly, this is a food for thought and all political leaders and stakeholders should cue in to this strategic political stabilization.
