The management, staff and students of Benjamin Uwajimogu (State) College of Education, Ihitte Uboma, Imo State have sent a letter of gratitude to the Executive Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma for his support to the institution.
In the letter signed by the Acting Provost of the school,
Dr. Chinyere Maryrose Nwachukwu, they commended the governor for his extraordinary commitment to the advancement of the institution and the educational sector of Imo State at large, describing him as a transformational leader.
According to the letter, his historic approval of the Dual Mandate Policy, granting the College the authority to award Degree certificates alongside the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE), stands as a watershed moment in the institution’s journey.
” This singular act of visionary leadership has not only elevated our academic status but has repositioned the College within the broader landscape of higher education in Nigeria.
“By this noble gesture, Your Excellency has permanently inscribed your name in the annals of our history as a transformational leader and a champion of teacher education.
The letter further noted that equally inspiring is the governor’s magnanimous approval of an automatic one year scholarship for all students admitted in the 2025/2026 academic session, explaining that this compassionate intervention reflects his people oriented philosophy of governance and unwavering belief that education remains the most potent instrument for societal transformation.
“We want to say that through this gesture, you have restored hope to many families and opened doors of opportunity to deserving young men and women.
“Your Excellency, our gratitude also extends to your decisive restoration of all staff of the College to the government payroll. That singular act reaffirmed the dignity of labour, strengthened institutional stability, and rekindled confidence among academic and non-academic staff alike. It is a testament to your justice driven and inclusive administrative style under the Shared Prosperity agenda.
“Furthermore, the remarkable infrastructural transformation witnessed within our campus; ranging from improved facilities to enhanced learning environments, bears eloquent testimony to your commitment to qualitative education.
“These developments have not only beautified our institution but have significantly enhanced teaching, research, and community engagement.
“We also recall with sincere appreciation that it was through your purposeful support and political will that the 2024 NCE accreditation exercise was successfully accomplished. That achievement safeguarded our academic programmes and strengthened our institutional credibility.
“In like manner, your encouragement and enabling environment were instrumental in the successful hosting of our maiden Convocation Ceremony in 2025, an epoch making event that marked a new chapter of pride and accomplishment for our College.
The management while stating that it holds the governor in high esteem, posited that his leadership has consistently demonstrated foresight, courage, and a deep affection for the educational advancement of Imo State, even as it described the strides recorded in the College under his administration as neither accidental nor incidental but are fruits of deliberate, strategic, and visionary governance.
Finally, the institution stressed that as beneficiaries of the governor’s goodwill and progressive policies, they assure him of their continuous loyalty, cooperation, and steadfast support for his administration, just as they promised to remain committed to upholding the ideals of excellence, discipline, and professional teacher education, in alignment with the governor’s noble vision for a prosperous and enlightened Imo State.
They prayed that the Almighty God continue to grant him wisdom, strength, and sound health as he pilot the affairs of Imo State to greater heights.
