Archers Set For Abuja Open Championship/ Training
The 2026 National Archery Open Championship/training programme begins at the package ‘B’ of the Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja, Abuja on Monday 20 April 2026 and runs till Saturday April 25, 2026.
As at the last count, technical report revealed that over 113 athletes have registered for the event.
The programme schedule shows that archers will undergo serious training sessions beginning from Monday 20 April and run till wednesday 22 April ahead of the championship proper slated from Thursday 23 April to Saturday 25 April 2025 when hostilities will be rounded off.
President of the Federation, His Royal Highness, Mohammed Baba Abdullahi during the NAFED emergency Executive meeting on Saturday 18 April 2026, said the Federation is fully set for the programme and urged his exco board members and other stakeholders to join hands to make the event a success.
HRH Mohammed who is also the Deputy Secretary General of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, commended the technical committee for working round the clock in ensuring that the event is a huge success.
He also praised the championship Media committee for job well done, but like ‘Oliver Twist’ did, the President still ask for more.
Meanwhile, the Federation has assured all athletes and officials coming to Abuja for the weeklong training and championship that there is no cause for alarm in terms of accommodation as the NAFED Vice President, Ambassador Augustine Chigbolu led Transport / Accommodation committee has since taken full care of that by making cheap accommodation reservation for teams ahead of the programme.
Meanwhile, the technical Committee has re-affirmed that all events are open to youths below 18 years of age and adults of 18 years and above in both male and female categories while competition will be in 15, 30, 50 and 70 meters range.
However, only Bare, Recurve, Compound Bows and World Archery Equipment and Outfit will be allowed at the event
