Uzodimma inaugurates chairmen, members of Imo statutory commissions

The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma has sworn-in Chairmen and inaugurated the members of the board of Statutory Commissions and Agencies of government in Imo State.
The Statutory Commissions are Civil Service Commission (CSC), Local Government Service Commission ( LGSC), Imo State Universal Basic Education Board (IMSUBEB) and Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS).
Performing the swearing in and inauguration ceremonies at the Sam Mbakwe Executive Council Chambers, Government House Owerri, on Tuesday, Governor Uzodimma informed that the constitution of members of the Commissions is “part of his administration’s efforts to strengthen the machinery of governance and ensure that effective service delivery of the shared prosperity administration runs smoothly.”
He described the appointees as qualified and competent men and women who have been tested and so “selected to serve in the sensitive positions of authority meant to take consequential decisions affecting the people of Imo State.”
He congratulated them for scaling through the integrity test and other rigorous selection processes meant for people designated to occupy such positions, noting that their appointment is nothing but “a call to selfless service to Imo State and her people”.
Governor Uzodimma did not mince words in reminding the members that the era of looting government as an appointee is over, rather, “theirs is a call to come and invest their integrity for the service of the people, to come and showcase their expertise, to come and work and give their best to Imo people.”
He warned them to avoid the “banana pill” of being carried away by praise singers who will only confuse and deceive them into believing that they are the best thing ever created by God hence their well-deserved new position.
He reiterated his earlier warning that his administration has zero tolerance for corruption. “We have no room for indolence, nepotism, high-handedness or any form of indiscipline”.
The Governor told them that because they were appointed based on merit and glowing antecedence “they are expected to demonstrate, accountability and decorum in the discharge of their duties.”
He reminded all of them that “he who has the power to hire equally has the power to fire”, hence he advised them to be resilience bearing in mind that he will not hesitate to relieve any of them of his or her duties when found wanting.
“This means they must be manifestly circumspect and contentious in all they do,” he noted promising that government will not fail to avail them all the necessary tools and resources to help them execute their assignments.
In the acceptance speech on behalf of all the Chairmen and members, the Chairman Civil Service Commission, Mrs. Julie Onyeukwu thanked the Governor for finding them worthy and qualified to occupy the critical Commissions and Boards that will help in moving the Shared Prosperity Government forward.
On behalf of her colleagues, she acknowledged that really their appointment is a call to duty and service and pledged their unalloyed loyalty and honesty, integrity, accountability and responsiveness to the Government of Governor Uzodimma and the APC that brought them to board.
The Chairmen of other Commissions are Mrs. Rosemary Izuogu (Local Government Service Commission), Dr. Ada Okwuonu (Imo State Universal Basic Education Board IMSUBEB), and Chief Emeka Udegbulem (Imo Internal Revenue Service IIRS).
