It was a bad Sunday for Nigerian football as the duo of Enyimba and Remo Stars crashed out of continent.
Enyimba playing at home could not score against Libyan side Al Alhi after losing 3-4 away last week.
Medeama SC of Ghana also sealed a place in the second preliminary round of the 2023/2024 CAF Champions League after a 3-2 win over Remo Stars in the return leg of the first preliminary round in Ikenne.
The Ghanaian champions had won the first leg 1-0 thanks to Jonathan Sowah’s 22nd-minute goal and knew a win at home by two-goal margin will guarantee their progression but failed to achieve it.
It was not however an all round bad outing for Nigerian clubs as Bendel Insurance survived the battle of Algiers against their Algerian opponent.
Insurance will now face top Moroccan side RS Berkene in the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
