Abuja to Host CAA Region II Elective Congress
Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city, will host the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Region II Elective Congress on December 12, as the 15-member regional athletics body prepares to elect new leadership that will steer its affairs for the next four years.
The congress is expected to bring together delegates and athletics administrators from the 15 member nations of CAA Region II to deliberate on the future of athletics development across the region and elect a new executive council.
Nigeria’s Chief Tonobok Okowa, who currently serves as the President of CAA Region II and Senior Vice President of the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA), is the incumbent leader heading into the crucial congress.
His administration has been widely noted for efforts aimed at strengthening regional athletics competitions and collaboration among member nations.
The Abuja congress is expected to shape the direction of athletics administration in West Africa and beyond, with key discussions likely to focus on talent development, infrastructure, competitions, and regional partnerships.
